Bridle Path Renewal Project Final Report

The NSMBA is happy to report that the Bridle Path Renewal project has been completed. The project has been a resounding success and has directly addressed the interests of outdoor enthusiasts from across the Metro Vancouver region. The Bridle Path was originally used by horses to traverse the lower slope of Mt. Seymour and later on logging companies used parts of the trail. It is one of the most popular trails on the North Shore for dog walkers, hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers. The original trail was built without regard for long-term sustainability or the management of large numbers of trail users from diverse user groups. As such the trail has suffered from erosion and devegetation caused by the combination of heavy traffic and unsustainable trail alignment.

A quick update from the NSMBA executive and trail team. This week the District of North Vancouver trail crew have been working in the area of Pink Starfish, Jerry Rig, Air Supply and other areas on Fromme.  If you have been riding on Fromme early this week you may have noticed new signage and work going on in these areas. We are releasing this information to bring all riders and NSMBA members up to date regarding the latest news on Fromme.

Wade Simmons New NSMBA Trail Ambassador

The NSMBA is proud to welcome Wade Simmons to the Board of Directors as the new Trail Ambassador.

Wade has travelled the globe, riding trails around the world for the last fifteen years.  As a dedicated rider who likes to climb as much as descend, he has a well-rounded experience of XC, AM & DH flow.

Wade & trail builder Matt Preston discuss how to incorporate flow into trails that appeal to all levels of rider.

A Great Day on Pre-Reaper!

Awesome work on Saturday! Another 20 m of fun, flowy trail built plus enough logs were brought in to get almost all the way to the bridge. The end is in sight!

Richie Schley Adventure Camp with guest coach Wade Simmons

On June 5th & 6th, Wade Simmons and Richie Schley invited the NSMBA to join them at the Richie Schley Adventure Camp at Whistler Bike Park.

First tip Richie gave to NSMBA Pres Mathew Bond: "Don't put your goggles there, your breath's going to fog them up!"

No matter how good you are, unless you’re a top level pro yourself, showing up in countless videos, you could most likely learn a thing or two from two of the most legendary Freeriders in the world.

Kenneth Charles Peter Klowak

It is with great regret the NSMBA announces the passing of Kenneth Charles Peter Klowak.

Fellow rider, Rest in Peace Ken.

Wade's Excellent Adventure Results

What a day on Fromme!  On this past Saturday, June 12, 163 Adventurers' took part in Wade's Excellent Adventure vying for the Fromme Cup!  The weather was spectacular even if the trails were still slippery in spots with 3 weeks of most often rain prior to the big day.  But the clouds cleared and it was a glorious day!

The teams assembled at the starting line and the Corporate Teams were first out of the gate, followed only two minutes later by citizen class.  By the time it was finished, Team BFJCC representing Cove Bikes had won the Fromme Cup with the fastest time of the day at 3:29:21.  The Citizen division was won by Team Pennywise, a two person team comprised of the Traslin Brothers in 3:32:23.
