NSMBA Power Weekend - September 17th and 18th

Join the NSMBA this upcoming weekend for two days of fun on the trails!

On Saturday, September 17th join us on Fromme for the LAST toonie of 2011!!  Dress like it's the 80s and blind the competition into falling behind!

Registration will be at the water towers, but we've decided on not timing the climb for this one, so the race will start at 10am from Mountain Highway at Jerry Rig.   From there, down Executioner, Dreamweaver, Dempsey back up to Baden Powell, and then up the Baden Powell to the water towers, where the race ends.

Apres localtion to be confirmed and announced later on.

It's not too late to volunteer!  Especially if you're a first aid person!  Email toonie@nsmba.ca to help out.

Then on Sunday, September 18th, hop over to Seymour to give one of the most ridden trails on the Shore some love. We'll meet at 8:45am at Parkgate Mall to meet your trail day leaders and start shuttles up the trail. Lunch will be provided by John Henry Bikes.

Toonie #2 results

To ease some curiosity.. the fastest time was about 21 minutes and the last rider came in at about 40 minutes. :-)

I'd like some feedback on whether as a group you want specific names posted with times attached, or just the ranges.

My argument against it is that toonies are supposed to be fun, fairly informal races and I'm a little worried that posting specific results will make it too competitive and some of the slower riders might not want their times made public. Racers were told their times on race day, so they all know and participants can see the results list at the end of the race on race day.  We could post the top 'X' number of times though.

Do you think it would be good or harmful to post times?  Feedback please!  toonie@nsmba.ca

Toonie #2 UPDATE!

UPDATE!  North Shore Bike Shop has sponsored the series!!  Thanks again Matt!  You've allowed the series to grow and hopefully expand next year!

Also, the apres for Tuesday July 26th's race has been confirmed for the Bridge Between pub.  There'll be specials and I think we get to pick what drink we want to be on special when we get there!

Toonie Race #2 - Tuesday July 26th

Here's the info for the second race:

When: Tuesday July 26th. Registration from 5-5:45. Race at 6pm. We may push everything later by up to 15 minutes if feedback recommends it in the next few days.

Where: LSCR/Seymour. Parking and Registration will be in the overflow section (the far section) of the parking lot located right after the water filtration plant off Lillooet. This is where most people would park to go to Rice Lake.

Route: start/finish will be just after the speed control gates on Twin Bridges trail. Down Twin Bridges trail, right on Fisherman's, left on Bridle Path, continue left on Hyannis, left on Powerlines, right up the first connector trail (very end of TNT) to Ned's, down Ned's, right on Ridge Runner (no trail name marker there. just turn right at the end of Ned's), left on Bottletop, down Bottletop, back up Twin Bridges.

Same rules apply as last time.. must be an NSMBA member to race - get your membership at www.nsmba.ca if you need one. it's good for a year from purchase. $2 on race day - on site registration only.

Fancy poster to come soon!

To volunteer or if you have questions, please email toonie@nsmba.ca!

Toonie #1 Presented by North Shore Bike Shop

The North Shore Bike Shop has stepped up as the title sponsor for the NSMBA's July 16th toonie race!  Thanks Matt!!

So here's the details:

Saturday July 16th: Pipeline.

Registration will be from 9 to 9:45am and the race will start at 10:15am.

Yup, there'll be coffee..

Race will be from the seconds gates up to Pipeline, down Pipeline to Baden Powell, left on Baden Powell and back up to the second gates.

We haven't confirmed the pub yet for afterwards, so will announce where that is closer to the race day - racers can head to the pub right after they're done racing, but prizes and such will be given out closer to 12:30pm (thanks to Steed Cycles and North Shore Bike Shop).

You MUST be an NSMBA paid member to race and you can register online.  This covers your insurance, so you do not need any additional insurance through Cycling BC.  Your membership will be good for a full 12 months from the date of payment - it doesn't expire automatically at the end of 2011.

The cost of the toonie race will be (big surprise) $2 on race day.  We will not have online registration for the race - but if you can vote on this poll if you're racing or not, then we'll have a rough headcount.

We will be having a volunteer meeting this Wednesday at 7pm - if you're interested in volunteering and haven't contacted me yet - send me an email at ilana@nsmba.ca

We have a healthy volunteer roster this year, but seeing as how this race will be on a Saturday in the middle of summer, I expect that roster to be thinned out with people on vacation, etc. so some more hands would be helpful!

General questions can be sent to toonie@nsmba.ca
