TAP 2012 

Restore the Shore

2011 was an incredible year with the inception of the Trail Adoption Plan.  Over 40 trail days and 4400 hours were put into 9 trails on Seymour and in Lynn Valley by  11 Trail Adopters. 

2012 promises to be twice the capacity as the revitalization of the Shore continues with 21 Adopters and 18 trails.  The NSMBA would like to thank the Trail Adopters for 2012, including the full returning roster of 2011 Adopters.  Stepping up, taking action and making a difference, one shovel full at a time.

TAP wouldn't be possible without the agreement and continued support of the North Shore Land Managers:  District of North Vancouver, Metro Vancouver and BC Parks.  Working together towards shared solutions.

The NSMBA would like to thank the Builder's who led the efforts last year and now welcome a doubling of the numbers for this coming season to a total of 15 TAP Trail Builder's. 

Last but not least, the NSMBA wishes to thank You.  If you were a volunteer on a trail day past or if you plan on volunteering this year and making a difference, then in advance, we thank you.  Many hands make light work.

The future looks good.

TAP Builders 2012

TAP Builders Ready themselves for 2012 Season

 The 2012 TAP Builder season briefing took place this Thurday evening, Jan 26 at the Metro Learning Center at Rice Lake.  A total of 15 builders will lead the efforts to restore the Shore continuing the work on Seymour and adding another 12 trails on Fromme, with a total of 21 Adopters.

DNV Parks and Open Space Strategic Plan - Comments Required

The District of North Vancouver has issued the Draft Report for the Parks and Open Space Strategic Plan. This document will guide the planning, use, and funding of parks and open space for the next ten years.

An interesting excerpt from the document: "North Vancouver residents place the highest priority on maintaining greenways, trails and bike paths."

Comments are open until January 27th. As users of trails and open space, it is important for mountain bikers to be aware of the proposed plans. The NSMBA has highlighted specific sections below that are of high importance to mountain bikers.

Cycles Lambert supports the NSMBA

The NSMBA would like to thank Cycles Lambert for their support with the donation of a Garmin Edge 800 for plotting routes and planning trail development.   Kevin Calhoun, Lambert Sales Associate, on behalf of Cycles Lambert, supports the efforts to improve the trails on the Shore and is one of our valued supporters going into 2012.

We wanted to take this time to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you for your continued support and ongoing contributions.
2011 was a stellar year and we look forward to an even better 2012.

IMBA Trail Care Crew visits the Shore

The IMBA Canada trail crew paid a recent visit to the North Shore.  On Nov 18th 2011 Chad & Deanne Lazaruk from IMBA shared the knowledge of sustainable trail building with the community.  Putting theory into practice, the half day of classroom theory was followed by a day and a half of building a new reroute on Dreamweaver.

NSMBA Presents to DNV Council

On Monday, November 7th, 2011, NSMBA President Mathew Bond and Director Mark Wood made a case for the long-term funding of trail maintenace before District of North Vancouver Council.

2011 AGM

It's time to be heard.  We welcome your voice to contribute in the NSMBA vision for 2012. 

We have made tremendous gains in 2011 and want to continue that momentum going into 2012.  We'll be needing a few good men & women to help.  Opinion is valued but action is priceless so step up and join us in making the Shore a better place.  Come prepared to contribute your thoughts and pledge your efforts as a volunteer.

There will be opportunity to meet the current Directors and even nominate yourself for a Director position.  Details can be found here.  We look forward to sharing an evening together to talk about what we've done and what the plans are for the future. 

Some ground breaking plans are in our midst, if you've ever wanted to play a part, this is your chance.  The time is now.

TAP Season End Party

On September 23rd, the Adopters, Builders, NSMBA Board of Directors and many friends in the community whose efforts shaped  the work completed in the inaugural season, joined together to celebrate our collective accomplishments in 2011.  
The clouds cleared and the rains seemed to stop on cue.  Brent Martin from Ryder's donated the venue and Dorothy Luebke  arranged the food. It was a night to recognize the efforts of all the volunteers who made the first TAP season a success.  
The Honourable Mayor Walton was on hand to share words of inspiration and speak of the importance of mountain biking in the  community and his support of the positive stewardship TAP has shown. 

The NSMBA would like to thank everyone who joined us in the celebration and extend our thanks to all the people who made TAP a success in its first season.
