North Shore Mountain Biking Association (NSMBA) Announces Official Adoption and Reopening of Cambodia on Mt. Seymour

North Vancouver, BC – June 17, 2024 — The North Shore Mountain Biking Association (NSMBA) is proud to announce officially reopening the newly sanctioned Cambodia trail on  Mt. Seymour. This significant milestone is the culmination of the NSMBA’s dedicated work to adopt this trail into the network, ensuring the protection and maintenance of this Shore classic for years to come.

With its challenging natural features and unique terrain, Cambodia has long been a favourite of the most accomplished riders on the Shore. The NSMBA, working in close partnership with the land manager, Metro Vancouver (Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve), has played a crucial advocacy role in ensuring the preservation of this trail, which could have been closed and decommissioned entirely.

A huge effort has been made to bring this route up to trail standards and sanction this trail into the network. Now officially part of the North Shore trail system, this new trail adoption underscores NSMBA’s commitment to preserving and enhancing North Shore’s trail legacy and is aligned with our vision of Trails for All, Trails Forever.

This achievement is a testament to the vital support from SRAM, a key partner in NSMBA’s Trail Adoption Program. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this project a reality, and we are grateful for their ongoing support. Other project funding was provided through the BC Gaming Grant, Canada Summer Jobs and membership fees.

We are keen to highlight the incredible efforts of the trail builders and volunteers who dedicated countless hours to restoring and enhancing Cambodia. Their hard work has ensured the trail is more sustainable and enjoyable for riders. Thanks to the NSMBA Trail Crew (past and present): Daniel Shaw, Henry Fitzgerald, Bishop Carasquero, Marcus VanHeyst and Trail Director / Project Lead Sarah McLeod.

Riders can look forward to an improved trail experience, enhancements include better trail features, optional reroutes, erosion control measures, and improved trail sustainability practices to protect the surrounding environment.
