Meet Nara one of our Directors at Large.

-Tell us a little about you?

I was raised in Victoria BC, and then moved to Vancouver after university…I thought I’d just stop for a couple of years and ended up planting roots and never left!  My love affair with the mountains was impossible to leave – I took up mountain biking in 2000, and was instantly hooked.  I took my first bike, a Cannondale F400, down all sorts of trails it had no business going down.  In those earlier years, a lot of women were hesitant to get into riding; I took up women’s mountain bike coaching at that time so I could share my newfound passion and encourage other women to get past their fears and onto the trails!  Today, mountain biking is where I find true zen, flow, joy, connection, and community.  There’s just nothing like cleaning a trail with a good crew and the smiles, fist bumps, and shared rush that follows!

– What is your day job?

Professionally, I am a VP at a tech company.  I have had a really cool mix of professional experiences in business and people leadership over nearly 3 decades, bringing my passion for people and purpose to the realms of environment, technology, retail, healthcare, wellness, education, nonprofits, and the public sector.  I am an intrapreneur at heart!

– Why did you join the board?
I joined the NSMBA board because I want to contribute my time, energy, and community connectivity in a meaningful, consistent way in order to give back to this amazing organization and our collective vision.
