Winter Trail Update

GranniesFromme

Trail Tread maintenance was completed on 1st rock roll section. Mineral soil added to top of trail tread and some rock work completed. The log drop was improved by cutting out a section to provide a flatter take off and a transition was built. An roll down options was added to the right side with the back of the log back filled with rock and mineral soil to ensure a better transition.

This will improve flow and add a jump option to this line.

The next section of trail was cleaned of pine needles and random rocks removed to improve rider experience

MorgiesCypress

The Cypress Crew spent a soaker of a Sunday cleaning up Morgies. A majority of the work was focused on repairing eroded and persistently muddy sections along a low grade segment of trail by filling in holes with rocks and gold, restoring the natural crown of the trail, improving drainage, adding a wood roll. Additionally, a second group was formed to begin the foundation for a catch berm, reinforced with cedar logs and posts.

Erosion from riders and rainfall (sometimes at the same time !) has made this roll-able stump into a mandatory drop. Using dead-fall cedar that was prepared ahead of time, the roll feature was re-established. The rungs of the tree were counted, this thing was >150 years old, wow!

What a great day with a fantastic crew! Volunteers stayed engaged and excited the whole day through, likely due in part to the coffee and donut station under the tarp. Despite conditions, we made very productive use of the day.

Meat Sweats Cypress

Trail work continued on the new exit feature. Along with trail tread resurfacing for the worst worn areas. Volunteers also added a catch berm for riders exiting Lower Mystery / Meat Sweats to improve the ride experience.

Mushroom/ Fungi ClimbSeymour

305m of single track climbing trail was constructed to complete a ridable off-road route from the lower Mt Seymour trail network up to Cabin Fever and the mid point of the mountain road. The only trail above the connector is CBC.

Construction began on October 29th, 2025 and the trail opened on January 1st, 2026. Some finishing, fine tuning, and naturalization was carried out in January for an overall completion date of January 28th, 2026. Four public trail days were held during November with good attendance of 12 to 22 volunteers. Work continued in all weather conditions from mild and dry, to torrential rain, to snow and ultimately frozen ground

A big thank you to Luke and Joe for liaising with BC Parks to gain their support to build the exit of the trail on BC Parks’ land. Thank you to all the volunteers who chose to spend their spare time his winter digging in the mud on this project; Terry and Wendy for tirelessly coming five Sundays in a row in the worst of November weather, and particularly Sven Sturm for personally putting in 90 hours. Thank you.

Replaced broken slats on bridge. Sourced wood off site and packed replacement slats into site.Removed broken slats and removed nails from slats. Cleaned out dirt from under bridge, restoring drainage. Installed new slats reusing old nails.

Bridle PathSeymour

TAP Partner Coast Mountain Trail Running

Cleared drains along section of Bridle Path and topped up mineral soil of trail tread to ensure water drains off trail. Refreshed mineral soil on eroded corner and converted braid into a more sustainable line. Previous efforts to close the braid have been unsuccessful. While this widens the trail, it increases the ease of having two-way traffic and allows people to pass.

Work started on new ride around at mid section. Starting to cut in for a tight section of trail. Work involved removing vegetation and started to fill in trail with rock and mineral soil.

Second dig day continued work on the new ride around, at the mid point of the trail. Volunteers added lots and lots of rock and gold to the entire section to ensure adequate drainage and solid base.

This section is taking a little more work than initially projected but it will be great. We left the trail open during work today and it was interesting watching just how many riders get off to walk their bikes down that rock section. This ride around will be a welcome addition for cautious rider groups.
