What you'll be doing (cycling frontline staff)

  • Assembling, assessing and repairing bicycles

  • Helping members on the retail floor get the gear and advice they need to enjoy the outdoors

What you'll be doing (bike mechanic)

  • Assembling, maintaining and repairing bicycles within MEC's productivity, quality, and safety guidelines

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment that meets visual presentation standards

  • Contributing to exceptional member service by conducting activities outlined in frontline job description when needed

  • Mentoring and training frontline staff on bike repair processes and procedures

  • Installing, adjusting and repairing bindings in an efficient, accurate and timely manner according to standard procedure and instructions

  • Providing frontline staff support when required

  • Considering MEC's sustainability principles when making decisions and actions

  • Ad hoc projects as by the Store Manager

What you need to do it well (cycling frontline staff)

  • A strong desire to help people

  • Passion for wild spaces, outdoor activities, and great gear. Passion for cycling and bikes

  • 6 months – 1 year cycling maintenance and repair experience in bike shop or equivalent

  • Retail experience. Retail outdoor experience considered a strong asset.

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Solid communication skills

  • A positive attitude

  • Self-starter

  • The time to work a variety of shifts from Monday to Sunday

What you need to do it well (bike mechanic)

  • 6 months – 1 year cycling maintenance and repair experience in bike shop or equivalent experience.

  • Passion for cycling and bikes

  • Experience in a ski service shop

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Solid communication skills

  • A strong desire to help people

  • A positive attitude

  • Self-starter

  • The time to work a variety of shifts from Monday to Sunday
