October 5th, 2013 – Circuit 8 TAP Trail Day
I woke up to a clear and cool morning on Saturday for my first TAP Trail Day on Circuit 8, with volunteers from BC Bike Race and Adera. The torch for this trail has been passed on to me from Matt Preston, a long time builder on the Shore and famous for his work on the Bridle Path, Sticks & Stones, and Slippery Salamander. Matt has been plugging away at Circuit 8 now for a couple of years, but his education and career has him on a stint up north for a couple years. Thanks for all your work over the years Matt, we'll make sure to work twice as hard until you get back!

Circuit 8 is a trail that's tucked away in the LSCR, about a mile up the paved path. Being a bit out of the way, not many people get up to it but it's a funky little loop, and can be a good 20 minute ride when you line up every part of it. I'll add it into my ride every once and a while, when I head over from Lynn Valley to ride the Seymour trails.
The vision for all the work on Circuit 8 over the past few years has been to "bring the singletrack back". Sections of the trail get really boggy in the wet, and over time the trail has gotton wider and wider as people try to avoid the puddles.

Third Annual NSMBAFF
The NSMBA wants your mountain bike film! Send us your documentaries, shorts and features. Everyone from first-timers to life-long filmmakers who share the passion for mountain biking, is encouraged to enter! Any style is acceptable: animation, experimental, narrative, documentary and music videos are all a go – be creative!
Submissions for the 3rd Annual NSMBAFF are now open! All submissions must include a short write up describing the film and include all participants in the making (riders, editor, creator, etc.), all files, images, and documents must be labelled with the film title and creator's name. Files should be in .avi or .mp4 format, preferably HD quality, and no larger than 1GB if sent via email. Films must be submitted by October 1st, 2013, at midnight, and can be sent via email to tara@NSMBA.ca or to the following address:

The NSMBAFF began in 2011 as a way to showcase some of the awesomeness taking place on the North Shore and Lower Mainland. The NSMBAFF is a platform to celebrate Mountain Biking through music, art and of course film.

Red Bull Hardline heads to beautiful British Columbia for its first-ever event in Canada, as riders prepare to take on this iteration of the world's most extreme downhill race at Cypress Mountain.
The unforgettable course at Cypress Mountain will be incomparable to other downhill bike courses, with elements borrowed from dirt jumping and BMX that are not allowed in the World Cup and other UCI races. These include massive jumps and gaps, steep drops of 10m plus, 'rock gardens', and steep descents.
