On Sunday October 17^th, the second general trail day on Pangor saw some spectacular results.  Nearly 50 volunteers were on hand at 9am for coffee and muffins supplied by our friends at Different Bikes and Bean Around the World coffee.  CCN and Race Face were both on hand to help with the efforts on the trail showing their support.

Dieter Bahr, Sean Gurke, Peter Morin, Todd Fiander (Digger!) Darryl Marlatt and Daniel Lui led crews to repair erosion, disperse water, as well as slat and string structures in ill repair. 

It was a great turnout to day by a crew of hardworking Shore lovers who put in plenty of effort hoisting logs, cutting slats and nailing stringers to improve the ladder bridges on Pangor.

Lots of progress was made today removing rotten sections and replacing them.  Its a great start, but there's still lots of work to do on our next trail day on Oct 17th.  We hope you can make it out to help with the revitalization of Pangor.

Mayor Walton broke the stillness of the morning, his tires rolling on smooth dirt through the Fromme forest past cedars and ferns on his inaugural run down Bobsled, the newest addition to the trail network on Fromme Mountain. The track was clear, it was all his.  Those of us planting ferns and sprinkling loam on the side of the trail in our early morning naturalization efforts cheered him on as he rode past, rounding each golden corner after the next.  It is September 25^th 2010, and it is a day that should be marked in all our calendars.  Today marked the beginning of a new era. 

The new Bobsled Trail was built by the District of North Vancouver using a portion of a Federal grant aimed at rehabilitating recreational assets across the country.  It is a step forward in the history books, a step taken together with the NSMBA and all the mountain bikers who come from near and far to ride Fromme Mountain, one of the most legendary riding destinations in the world.
