Cambodia, Dreamweaver, and plans for 2023!

The first half of December brought us great weather for digging! The trail crew started off with two trail days on Cambodia, along with sponsor SRAM and a few of our volunteer builders. During the rest of those weeks, we started tackling Dreamweaver below Skid Road. This portion of the trail is filled with tight berms and a few longer, low-angle sections of trail. We started filling in and buffing the trail tread, fixed up the berms and added reverse grades to mitigate drainage. We had some help from the rest of the NSMBA staff during our first all-staff day!

With the end of the year fast approaching, we prioritized finishing up our trail assessments and work plans for the upcoming year. For those who might not know, each year the builders and trail crew head out onto their trails and fill out an assessment of both the trail tread and any technical trail features (TTFs) that might be on their trails. They draw up a plan of the work they would like to accomplish in the next year. These assessments are then submitted to our various land managers, who review and approve the planned work. This was great work for us to have in the second half of the month, when snow was covering the trails and the digging wasn’t so easy!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and are excited for a new year of riding!
