Builder’s Academy travels to Cumberland

On March 4th, NSMBA’s program manager, Mark Wood, left for Cumberland to share some Shore expertise, teaching current techniques to assess, build, and maintain trails through the Builder’s Academy. The following evening, March 5th, the Village of Cumberland and the United Riders of Cumberland (UROC) hosted the first ever Cumberland Trails Forum at the Cumberland Cultural Centre.
March 9th, 2014 – Circuit 8 Trail Day Complete!
After a stunning downpour on Saturday, the skies parted and provided a beautiful misty Sunday morning to greet our volunteers for the first NSMBA trail day of 2014.
Rising early for trail day preparations
The trail day leaders, Pat, Digger and I, met a core group of 20 volunteers at Rice Lake Gate. It was awesome to see a strong showing of trail runners out to help (including Peter Watson from North Shore Athletics), especially after suffering through the Dirty Duo the day before. By 9am, everyone was itching to get out on the trail. After a quick effort to hump the massive lunch, gear and tools from the road into the trail, the digging began!

Please bring water, proper footwear, gloves & personal snacks.
Lunch afterwards provided by BCBR & the Raven Pub in Deep Cove (beer & burger).

Red Bull Hardline heads to beautiful British Columbia for its first-ever event in Canada, as riders prepare to take on this iteration of the world's most extreme downhill race at Cypress Mountain.
The unforgettable course at Cypress Mountain will be incomparable to other downhill bike courses, with elements borrowed from dirt jumping and BMX that are not allowed in the World Cup and other UCI races. These include massive jumps and gaps, steep drops of 10m plus, 'rock gardens', and steep descents.
