Federal Government Announces $10M to Complete Trans Canada Trail
On October 22nd at 10:15AM I joined a small, but impressive group for the announcement including federal Minister for the Environment Jim Prentice, Valerie Pringle and Deborah Apps, Chair and President of the Trans Canada Trail (respectively), two time Olympic medalist Simon Whitfield, and Parks Canada Director of Visitor Experiences Ed Jager to mention a few.
Some locals in the bunch, including our BC IMBA rep James Brown, SORCA's Mike Nelson, MOTCA's John Hawkins, Jeremy McCall from the BC ORC and quite a few more.
Vote for the NSMBA to get $100 000 for trails at Aviva
Although we didn't quite make the top 10 during the first round of voting, we have a second chance to obtain valuable funding to improve the trails on the North Shore-up to $100 000! But it all depends on you and your ability to get the word out! So post on Face Book and email everyone in your address book! Voting runs Oct 25 to Nov 5th. Everyone gets 10 votes…11 days, 10 votes.
Voting is on Eastern Time. Cutoff is 9PM PT. That means you can vote at 8:55 PM and 9:05 PM the same day.
Here's an easy to remember shortcut.
Support your North Shore Mountain Bike Association by voting for our idea submitted to the Aviva Community Fund.
Trails for all trails forever!
Circuit 8 trail day
Thanks to the North Shore Bike Fest, Metro Vancouver and the 14 people who came out to work on the bottom section of Circuit 8 trail!
Kudo's to Dan and Pete from Ticket 2 Ride who came down from Whistler for a morning of trail work. They've never even ridden this trail!
This is an area we would like to see cater to more cross country style riding. A very old trail, the Circuit 8 network has seen some work on the top section by Metro Vancouver. We decided to work on the bottom section to fill in some large ruts and make the trail more in character with the upper section.
Thanks to Metro Vancouver for two workers – Carlos and Kristian – and lunch!
