2016 Gear Swap Recap

2016 Gear Swap Recap

Another beautiful Sunday, May 1st, was spent in and around Jaycee House with old gear, new gear, bikes that were passed over to new homes and superb community feeling. A great day was had by all, and we made some money too!
We are pleased to tell you that over 30 bikes sold! Not as many as last year, perhaps everyone is set for 2016 or doesn’t want to let go of their current steeds? We had a great amount people leaving with memberships, trail passes, and fresh new ‘I Dig The Shore’ t-shirts. After expenses, we are happy to let you know we made about $4000!

This weekend could not, and would not have happened without the help of our amazing volunteers!!!

Goal Reached for Heritage Campaign

The 2015/2016 NSMBA Heritage Campaign has now closed. The NSMBA is proud to announce that we have reached our $12,000 goal. We are grateful for the generosity of our community as it allows us to work on and maintain a challenging heritage trail on the North Shore.

Bridle Path Maintenance to begin…

Bridle Path Maintenance to begin…

In 2013, MEC supported NSMBA efforts to create bypasses, install a kiosk and general maintenance on Bridle Path including structure assessment and replacement.  Maintenance on these sections will commence starting end of January and continue east as time permits.  Please find the work plan HERE. Any questions can be directed to info@nsmba.ca.

January 2016 Trail Update

January 2016 Trail Update

2016 is coming in like a LION!

The Shore is runnin HAWT! And everyone in the Sea to Sky is coming down to play while Squish, Whistler & Pemby are under snow. While Fromme was still under snow, riding pressure was through the roof on Seymour. As trails get busier, please use some common sense. Don't stop in the middle of descents and be sure to take out your earphones when crossing other trails. The trails belong to all of us so please respect others and respect the trails. A little goes a long way – slow down when you see other users, even a friendly "Hallo" and a smile makes people feel warm & fuzzy. Sometimes, there's no hard & fast rule so remember; "Courtesy has right of way."

We're all in this together 🙂

Fromme Update – Dec 10

The NSMBA has received a request to inform our membership and the North Shore riding community of a request to cease the use of trails above the 7th switchback.

This request has been reached by a collaborative process between the private land owner, the trail maintainer/builder and the NSMBA.

Please respect the request.  Your collaboration and respect of these closures will benefit the community in the long term.

The NSMBA ask that we all consider the future, as you act in the now.  A harmonious balance between these two states will enable the Shore to be a lasting legacy.

Thank you for you collaboration,

Vince Beasse

NSMBA President

NEW TRAIL – Pussyfoot

NEW TRAIL – Pussyfoot

Pussyfoot is the newest section of the Seymour climbing route, bypassing a short section of C-Buster just after the junction with RT Connector. It reduces the potential for user conflict by providing a climbing only route that twins a steeper section of C-Buster that has also poor sight lines. NSMBA Relationship Flow Chart

NSMBA Relationship Flow Chart

The NSMBA works with local Land Managers to develop a collaborative approach for trail strategies. Ultimately, the Land Mangers hold approval for these proposals. We work hard to create a strong relationship, best accomplished through positive community efforts. As you can see there are lots of pieces to this puzzle and we do it for the love of the trails!
